Gourmet Nights at Bosun’s Table, Largs Marina

#GIFTED

I visited Bosun’s Table what felt like a million years ago for lunch. Located in the heart of the Yacht Haven in Largs, Bosun’s Table is a casual cafe. They’ve decided to show off their new chef by introducing a series of gourmet evenings, and I was invited along to sample the first one: the beautifully autumnal, Halloween one!

I started with their scallop Mornay. Three plump scallops cooked beautifully, topped with a silky cheese sauce and breadcrumbs. I’m a huge fan of Mornay and this is the first time I’ve tried it with scallops – I’m a fan of this now too! It was a simple and light starter – perfect comfort food.

I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without trying beef Wellington, but I finally did it! It was everything I hoped it would be! Beautifully blushing beef in perfect pastry – crisp on the outside and soft from the meaty juice inside! The roasted vegetables were lovely, and my only regret was that I didn’t ask for extra gravy!

I have never tried pumpkin pie before so I jumped at the chance to try it here! It was lovely – like a carrot cake pie. They served it with a cute little pumpkin sweetie and some spiced yoghurt. I assume it was to add a tang to the sweet and spicy pie, but I didn’t like it too much. I ended up just eating the pie which I loved!

Bosun’s Cafe by day and by night are so different in terms of the food. I was so surprised by how nice it was how casual the restaurant is by day! The next event is a truly scottish one – a St. Andrews themed meal next weekend. See their Facebook event here for details to book!
