Celino’s of Partick, Glasgow

This seems like a dumb statement to come from someone like me, because *duh*, but I really just love food so much. It’s just an endlessly beautiful, comforting, artistic way of showing love and I really love going out for decadent meals with beautiful wine with the people I love. I’d even tolerate people I don’t like for good food to be honest!

Celino’s has been on my hit list for a long, long time and their deli is still on my list as I wasn’t able to buy (didn’t want to carry) anything at the time! But I did get a fantastic measure of the restaurant, apart from dessert as I physically couldn’t have eaten anything else by the end!

Capesante alla Scozia

Lovely plump, seared Scottish scallops atop a slice of Stornoway black pudding, topped with a white wine and cream sauce. It was exactly what it says on the tin and was absolutely delicious.

Crostini Gamberoni

Admittedly when this arrived, I was a bit like “is this it?!” as it looked quite measly. I was obviously starving, as it was more than enough when I ate it! The sour dough bread was lightly toasted and topped with king prawns pan-fried with San Marzano tomatoes in a white wine, garlic and chilli sauce and it was so rich and gorgeous.

Salsiccia Aurora

This is classic comfort food – penne pasta tossed in a rich and creamy tomato & cream sauce with crumbled spicy Italian sausage.

Surf ‘n’ Turf

There is just something so lavish about ordering surf ‘n’ turf to me. Two separate luxury dishes fused together in such a beautiful way! The beef used in Celino’s is supplied by Rodger’s The Butchers and is aged for a minimum of 28 days. The steak was cooked perfectly to what we ordered and was topped with seared scallops and a grilled langoustine. The sauce was a beautiful white wine, fresh chilli, butter and lemon juice sauce and it came with chunky chips.

La Parmigiana di Melanzane

I love this dish in a massive romantic way. There is something so divine a out aubergine, sugo and Parmesan that just makes me weep. I couldn’t finish this portion as it was massive and so rich and decadent. I just absolutely LOVED it.

Sauvignon Marca Trevigiana I.G.T. Ca’ di Rajo

Despite the vast numbers of wines I’ve tasted and had explained to me at tasting sessions: I always buy the house wine. The only exception is when I’m in Da Claudio where I order a particular one I love. Now, there are two exceptions as I really loved this bottle such a beautifully fruity taste of grapefruit and pineapple which together tasted rather peachy!

Celino’s has a beautiful atmosphere, the staff are so lovely, the food is glorious and the deli….wow. You want to buy stuff from there. I want to go back and buy everything!
